Summer is on its way, which means one thing for UK theatre-makers … THE EDINBURGH FRINGE!!
Everyone is on their way and RSVP staff are no exception; I have been asking around and I’m going to share with you lot what our lot are off to do!
Corrine is going to be appearing in ‘Ushers’; a musical about the unsung heroes of the theatre. ‘Ushers’ has come just finished a successful run at The Hope Theatre and Charing Cross, and now its off up north.
Elizabeth is a very talented Movement Director and is currently working for Red Belly Black Theatre Company on their Fringe show, ‘And They All Came Tumbling After’. The show is described as “A Nursery Rhyme for Tangled Minds” and tells the talk of Jack and Gill … and Peter.
Lloyd is in a fantastic play called ‘Back to Blackbrick’ which is on at the Pleasance Theatre. A charming children’s story about Cosmo’s Grandfather, his past, and new beginnings. If you’ve got little-ones or if you’re a big kid at heart, this is a must see!
Both Hannah and Montana (Ha! Hannah Montana!) are members of Dead Iconics (@deadiconics) out of Rose Bruford College; they are taking a new devised show to The Fringe this year. The show is an absurd and dark comedy piece, with songs, and all sorts, based on the work of polish artist tadeusz kantor. This is Dead Iconics debut show and is set to be outstanding!
Rachel is hilarious (@rachelhappyface). She is performing in a musical improv at The Fringe with ‘Waiting For The Call’ (@wftcimprov ); it’s called ‘Notflix’. Described as the most horrible and least recommended original movies generated from the ghastly depths of audience suggestion. This is a great one for you comedy aficionados.
Jessica and Peter are up with another delightful children’s theatre company, C Theatre. They are performing two shows in rep; “The Princess and The Pea” and “Jack and Molly and The Beanstalk”. Two charming actors and two charming stories; the littluns are going to love it!
Finally, there’s me. I’m off with PIT (@pitonline) to perform a devised play based on Orwell’s “Down & Out in Paris & London”. This is my first time with PIT but there past work has won a huge number of awards and critical acclaim. We are performing in the Pleasance 2 at 6:30 every night for the month. Please come along!! I'll be blogging my entire Ed Fringe experience for RSVP, be sure to check it out :)
If you find yourself along the Waters of Leith this summer, come support our staff and their work.
This is what RSVP is all about; we thrive on the talents of these individuals and celebrate their successes at every chance we get! I don’t know what we would do without them!
So go on, spread your wings and be awesome, and hopefully you’ll come back :)
