With the long awaited Great British Bake Off starting again tomorrow, we feel it would be a perfect opportunity for a charity bake sale…

We are running the bake sale on behalf of Cynthia Onwuzulike (of the Direct Wines account) who is going to be volunteering in Uganda for three months in September for a charity called Restless Development.

Restless Development is a charity based on using young people to help, support and grow other young people. Through ICS (International Citizen Service), Restless Development will be sending lots of UK volunteers to rural communities in Uganda to help raise sexual health awareness, HIV/AIDS prevention and equip young people with skills for employment.

A statement from Cynthia’s Just Giving Page…

“By donating money you will helping me make a difference in the lives of many young people in Uganda. With Restless Development, I will be raising awareness about sexual health and the prevention of sexual transmitted diseases and infections. An issue which unfortunately isn't discussed as openly within certain communities in Uganda.

I will also be helping to tackle the high unemployment levels among young people and helping develop the skills to begin finding employment. Your contributions, whether large or small will be greatly appreciated. By donating you'll be planting a seed that is certain to flourish in a way that creates fields of opportunity for young people in Uganda. Help me prove that YOUNG PEOPLE CAN!”

You can find out more about Cynthia’s story on her Just Giving page and you can also donate here if you wish! –

Some of our lovely staff have generously offered to be Mary Berry for the evening and bake delicious treats for us to sell tomorrow to raise money for this amazing cause.

Don’t worry, many pictures will follow tomorrow.
