Hiten Patel our Client Services Director has just finished a 5 week training course at the Brandon Trust to become one of their Buddy’s.  He will be matched with his buddy next week and will be giving at least 4-5 hours a week helping his new companion live a happy and fulfilled life.

Hiten himself had this to say “The course was very insightful and I’m very much looking forward to giving something back to someone who’s not as privileged as I am.” On meeting his new Buddy he said “I’m really excited to meet them for the first time… a few hours a week for me could mean a lifetime of difference to someone else.”

There are 1.5 million people with learning difficulties living in the UK at the moment and yet less than 7% of them have a job. The Brandon Trust work with both children and adults with learning difficulties focusing particularly on autism and trying to help them lead a successful life. On the website Brandon Trust say that “We inspire the people we support to set themselves free so they can reach for their dreams and be all they can be…  We have a wealth of experience in working with people with complex needs whose behaviour can sometimes challenge the environment in which they live, or with profound and multiple learning disabilities.”
